Family Camping – No Experience Necessary

Are you interested in family camping for only $55.00 dollars?  The state of Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is offering workshops called I Can Camp! for families interested in learning how.  All you have to do is register at the Minnesota DNR website to see which state parks are participating in the program. 

Furthermore, what exactly do you get for $55.00 dollars?

Camping equipment for cooking and instruction Fire building and firewood How to set up camp and tents Air mattress and sleeping pads Recipes and grocery list of suggested meals Daily park fee provided Activity instruction General workshop schedule varies from park to park

What you need to bring for the I Can Camp workshop:

Sleeping bag or bedding Personal items and clothing – suggested list provided Groceries – suggested list provided Coolers Be prepared for any weather – rain or shine Up to six people for I Can Camp program

What a wonderful experience for the whole family to learn about camping and getting to know Minnesota state parks for a minimal fee.  By partaking in such a program your family will learn many outdoor skills that may lead to other camping adventures.

 Certainly, camping provides many challenges but that will out way the rewards gained in what is learned.  Mistakes are welcome so laugh and be supportive of one another.  Nevertheless, the process of learning by doing is much more effective then reading or listening about camping.  So be prepared to ask lots of questions. 

The DNR of Minnesota provides all the necessary information to make your camping adventure a positive one.  Simply go to the Minnesota DNR website and follow the links to the I Can Camp workshops.  Why not try something new and share a memorable experience with your family.
