Make The Most OF Your Camping Adventure

Getting into the woods or mountains may seem easy, but it is important to keep some information in mind as you plan your trip to help make it a great success.  The tips and hints below can help make your future camping trips a wonderful time.

Sleeping Bag

Be sure to bring along a sleeping bag that is appropriate for the season you are camping in.  If you have a cold weather sleeping bag in the summer, you will find it hard to sleep at night because you will be too hot.  The opposite is also true.  If you have a warm weather sleeping bag in the winter, you will find you are cold and cannot sleep.  You may even risk getting hypothermia if you are not prepared with the right sleeping bag.

Expect to get dirtier than you will if you were at home.  Just enjoy the outdoor freedom, let loose, and relax about the extra dirt.  You will be able to get back to the normal clean once you get back home.

If you are going to camp in a new location, be sure to familiarize yourself with the local risks and dangers associated with that location.  Be sure to research deadly spiders, are there bears, and flash floods are a few of the major things to concern yourself with.  Every location will have different dangers, so do some homework before you leave home.

If this is your first camping trip, plan to stay fairly close to home.  It will be easier to end your trip early, if things are not going according to plan.  You may find out you did not pack enough clothes or enough food.  You never know what can go wrong the first time you go camping, so it is better to stay close to home.

If you bring along you dog, be sure to keep them on a leash and watch them closely.  You must respect other campers, and quite a few people are afraid of dogs.  Too many people have lost their dog in the woods, because they did not have them on a leash.  Your pet is your friend, so keep them safe.

Make a list of the items you plan to bring on the trip.  Forgetting one or two key items can ruin a trip.  Use the list when you pack and cross the items off the list when you put them in the car.

Consider how you plan to cook at the camp site.  You need to know this so you know what supplies to bring along.  Cooking over a campfire can be fun, but without preparation and planning it cannot be done.

The more you are organized, the better your trip will be.  Use these tips above to help you enjoy a safe and relaxing camping trip, and to help you prepare for the problems you may encounter.
