DIY Salt Removal from Water: A Survival Skill

1. Boil the water: Fill the kettle or pan with water and boil it over the camping stove.

2. Set up the filtration system:

- Cut a square of handkerchief and place it over the mouth of the cup.

- Secure it with an elastic band.

- Place the cup upside down over the pan of boiling water.

3. Create condensation:

- Hold the plastic tube over the spout of the kettle.

- Direct the steam from the kettle into the cup.

- The steam will condense on the handkerchief and drip into the cup, leaving the salt behind in the pan.

4. Collect the distilled water:

- Once enough water has collected in the cup, remove it from the pan.

- The water in the cup is now salt-free.
