Dieting is Dead - Bring on Strength Training to Boost Metabolism

2016/7/25 14:30:36

Up until now if we wanted to lose some weight we would go on a diet, throw in some "fat burning" exercise like walking, jogging, cycling etc and wait with bated breath until the excess weight disappeared.

Well we know now that this is not working with two thirds of the population overweight or obese. These old fashioned methods of reducing excess body fat have been around since the 1980's and it is time to bring weight loss and exercise in general out of the dark ages.

With the lack of activity in our technology driven lifestyles most people get very little opportunity to get any real exercise over the course of the day. The end result of this is that our metabolic motor downgrades to a smaller version burning less fuel. The body is very efficient and does not waste resources as there is no need for a high performance engine if it is not being used.

This is the real cause of the overweight and obesity time bomb like epidemic ticking away in our world. This downgrade to a smaller engine size does a whole lot more than allow the accumulation of excess body fat. It causes the weakening of muscles, bones and all body systems including the immune system exposing one to increased risk of disease. Energy levels and the life force are also pretty much siphoned away which is not a recipe for an energetic and healthy life.

This whole situation is very easily reversed; a proper exercise program that includes at least 60 % strength training exercise done at the correct level of intensity is what it takes. This type of exercise will restore the metabolic engine size back up to what you had when you were younger and more active.

Modern science has now given us the knowledge that what happens after the exercise session is actually far more important for weight loss and health benefits that what happens during it. Aerobic or recreational type activities will not restore a diminished metabolism.

The exercise has to stress the muscular system of the body to stimulate the hormones necessary to cause this engine rebuild. This means the right exercises must be performed, at the right intensity, the right duration and the right frequency.

Obviously we are not born with this knowledge but as with everything we can learn. It is recommended to seek the help and guidance of a fitness professional so you can fast track your results. Years and even decades of the downward spiral can be reversed with just a few months of the right type of exercise program.

The emphasis in the future will be on exercise that stimulates hormones which are the chemical messengers in the body, giving instructions and effecting every single body part and system throughout our lifespan. They are responsible and are the key to whether body fat is used for energy or stored as excess.

Come and join the new revolution in weight loss and optimal health benefits, start your strength training program and experience life changing results with your weight, your health, your strength, your energy levels and your trim and firm new body shape. Dieting is definitely dead, we just need to bury it.
