Mountain Biking Essentials

The thrills and spills in mountain biking has attracted a lot outdoor enthusiasts not just in the US but all over the globe as well. The sport's popularity can not be denied with the mountain bike trails and mountain bike shops that have been popping up as of late. Mountain biking being a physically demanding sport, requires certain gears and accessories for that are intended for protection and safety. Let's take a look at some of these mountain biking essentials that riders need to get there hands on before going for the ride.

Helmet - When something unfortunate and unexpected happens such as having a fall, the first thing that you might want to protect is your head. An injury on the head may become serious and even fatal, and your helmet is your only defense against direct impacts. It could be a life saver so never fail to wear one.

Gloves - Also protects your hands when you fall, but the primary purpose of gloves is to prevent your hands from producing friction from the handle bars which could cause injuries to your palm. Gloves also help you get a better grip on the handle bars, giving you better control especially on rough terrains.

Protective Eyewear - Not only protects your eyes from dirt and other irritants that might get caught in your eyes, having a protective eyewear such as UV protection sunglasses also give you better view by filtering the uncomfortable brightness and heat of the sun.

Sunblock - Don't forget your sunblock when going on rides on a hot sunny day. The UV rays of the sun is the main cause of skin cancer. Applying sunblock helps in reflecting some of the UV rays protecting your skin from its harmful effects.

Hydration - Bring a bottle of water or hydration pack during rides to replenish the fluids you've lost.

Repair kit - You are vulnerable to bike malfunctions during rides so make sure you have a repair kit with the right tools such as a pump and multi-tools to be ready when the situation calls for.
