Why a GPS Cycle Computer will improve your cycling

GPS Cycling computers are used by some of the professional cycling teams. It provides all the realtime data that you need on your bike ride including GPS recording of your location.

It will record your speed, distance, location and elevation. Some are also ANT+ compatible device, which means that you can connect a compatible wireless heart rate monitor, cadence sensor or for the professional rider even your power meter for a complete picture of your ride.

The GPS cycle computers attach to the handlebars or to the handlebar stem for time-trial bikes. Make sure you get one with two mounts which enable you to install it easily on two bike, so it's with you no matter which bike you take out, road or mountain.

The device will work with road and also mountain bikes, you can set up bike profiles. When you move the device to a different bike select the right one from the bike profile screen and it will have the correct setting for you.

The inbuilt GPS will quickly and accurately find your position using GPS satellites, so when you get home you can upload your ride and review where you went. The elevation of the hills, your speed and cadence (with attachment).

If you ride the same route often you are able to use the Courses feature to compare rides over the same route. The device will also show your best ride over the course, so you can race yourself!

They are also able to record your heart rate from the optional heart rate sensor, this will give you more information to improve your fitness and burn calories.

You can connect most of them to your Mac or PC. Download you data to the included Garmin Training Centre software, where you can review your performance.

The GPS cycle computers are excellent for cycling and will give you all the information that you'll needs for your rides and will help you keep motivated and will help you improve your fitness.
