If you happen to be an avid biker then you would definitely be looking for a bike with appropriate bicycle gears. It can be very difficult to ride on rough roads and you will definitely have to look out for a bike with appropriate gears.

Bicycles available earlier were quite simpler that those that are available today. You can use the right bicycle gear depending on the condition of the road that you are riding. Nowadays it is common to have bicycles with many gears.

A bicycle that has just one single gear will definitely move at a slower pace and at a continued pace only.

The right gears are very essential to enable proper pedaling and gaining the right speed while riding especially uphill as well as downhill. Riding on a straight road is very different from riding up a slope or down a slope. Bikes used especially for riding up the mountains are available with around 27 gears.

Most mountain bikes have 27 gears and these gears are located close to each other. You have to have a lot of practice so that are able to note the difference while using each gear and know when to change to a particular gear while riding. If you wish to ride on a slope or on a plain road then you can opt to choose a system of gears with a front socket. While using the gears you may find that it is much easier to change the gears with a rear socket as compared to a system of gears with a front socket.

Bikes require many gears so that the rider can pedal faster and maintain the same speed on whatever type of a road he may be riding on. Many bikes riders of today use bikes with a higher number of gears. You can keep changing the gears as and when required depending on the kind of terrain that you will be riding on.

A bike fixed with one single gear has both the front as well as the rear wheel turning at the same speed. You will find it difficult to use the same gear for going up as well as coming down the slope or while riding on a flat road. You can attain higher speed for riding a bike by having the right gear ratio for your bike. Many gears on your bike will enable you to attain more speed while riding your bike. You have to remember that you should also be fit enough to ride fast enough on a bicycle with many gears.
