The right triathlon cycling training can help make cycling during a triathlon event one of the most exciting and rewarding activities. The proper triathlon cycling training will ensure that you learn to move faster and freer and of course it is good to know that the amount of effort required to cycle is not as high as is the case when swimming or running. To ensure that you benefit from your triathlon cycling training the first thing that you will need to do is to purchase the right kind of bike and this means choosing between a basic kind of bike or one that is a mountain bike with the latter being the better option.

Know Your Bike

Next, before beginning your triathlon cycling training you need to become familiar with your bike and you also need to feel comfortable using it. Also, you have to learn how to change its gears which will come in especially handy when cycling up an incline. So, try out and test the gears and also become proficient in changing the gears without being afraid of taking one hand off the handlebar.

You also need to be familiar with the brakes and if you own a mountain bike you will already know just how good these brakes can be which means you need to learn to apply them very carefully. Getting started with triathlon cycling training requires making a slow and cautious beginning and because triathlon cycling generally does not involve cycling long distances you need not do a whole lot of triathlon cycling training to be prepared for the cycling leg of the triathlon event.

Doing triathlon cycling training once a week and for about half an hour is a good way to get started and then close to the day of the event you can lengthen the training to for as long as an hour. In addition, you can do half an hour of cycling and this can be combined with five minute short runs to help you learn to transition from cycling over to running. Getting advice on triathlon cycling training from an expert is also a good idea.

Pro cycling is often equated with events such as the Tour de France that is a three week long cycling extravaganza that comes around once in a year. This event involves pros competing against each other for as many as three thousand five hundred kilometers that takes twenty-one days to complete.
