The best part is that this park is completely free to mountain bikers. There are some good single tracks and this is would be ideal for the adrenaline junkies out there looking for a fix.

The Rocky Ridge County Park is an amazing park for mountain biking. There are a variety of terrains from cinder-paved paths to rocky old woods roads. There are quite a few stream crossings and two incredible vistas and enough intersecting trails for a whole day’s worth of rides. A bonus is that you can also bring a tent and stay at the camping grounds. Call ahead and check on conditions of trails as park rangers sometimes close trails when they are too muddy.

Parks in Philadelphia

The Pennypack Park is ideal for mountain biking in Pennsylvania as it satisfies both riders who want an off road experience and those who just want paved bike paths. For those who want off road there are flat packed dirt roads for those who are just beginning and for the more experienced there are loose gravel up climbs and rocky paths that provide lots of opportunity to go up and down hills. There is also the chance to hop logs and stumps on the horse riding trails. Be sure to check the trails you are on allow bikers.

The Morris Park is another place in Philadelphia that will give you plenty of variety in terms of trail difficulty. There are trails that are easy and other that are pretty steep with rugged terrain. The area used to be a quarry in the 1900’s so this should give you an idea of the terrain you will encounter. This is great if you want a place that is not crowded and exclusive to bikers.
