Biking for Strong Bones in the Legs

Many people worry about getting osteoporosis as they get older or about their children growing up without strong bones. Parents don't want their children to break their bones easily. It is important to find an exercise that will strengthen your bones.

Children who exercise a lot will have stronger bones as they get older. The activity that is done while young sets an important foundation for life. It is only until people get older that they tend to become a little less active physically and consequently start to have some bone loss.

Many children are laying around watching shows or playing games, while many older adults are resting in care centers. This inactivity will be detrimental to the health of the bones and they will start to become weak.

It is vital to the health of your bones that you stay active and do exercises that are more challenging if you find out that you need to have stronger bones. But, you don't want to do more than you are ready for and break bones. So, take some time to exercise and build up strength and difficulty in your efforts gradually.

Biking is an exercise that will result in stronger bones in the legs. This is especially true if you are trying to ride a bike up a hill or set the gears on the bike to be lower. A lowered gear shift will increase the tension and resistance and contribute towards the legs having to work harder.

The harder the legs have to work at pushing the pedals to get the bike up the hill, the more the bones will be needed to be as strong as possible. Many people find that when they start doing more challenging bike rides that the bones in their legs become very strong.

If you try to ride a bike everyday, you can get tired of doing the same thing everyday. So, it is good to consider an alternative type of exercise in order to have some more variety. There are certain types of weight-lifting exercises that you can do if you go to a gym or spa.

Weight lifting can be challenging as you slowly increase the amounts of weights used to challenge your muscles and bones. This will bring a welcome change for you when you are biking. You can bike for about three days out of the week.

Then, when you do something different on the other days, it will help you to stay interested and motivated in your bike-riding goal of strengthening your bones. You won't get burned out and tired of the same old biking everyday.

Another thing that you can do to help strengthen your legs is to try increasing your speed in biking. This takes more exertion for the legs. And, the challenge of doing something more strenuous will be helpful to bone strength.

As you become more active and incorporate more challenging exercises such as biking uphill, switching to a lower gear, and increasing speed, your legs will develop stronger bones. You will have a strong foundation for the framework for your body.
