How to Convert A Me Bike Into An E - Bike

You've decided to take the next step.

You're commited to becoming more eco-friendly but you don't want to sacrifice the quality of life that you're used to in the process.

OR...

You're just fed up with gas prices and you desperately want to find some way to 'stick it to the man'!

You're going to buy an e-bike and save some money... and maybe the environment while you're at it.

You've made up your mind and you WILL have an e-bike. That's just all there is to it. But your heart and your wallet aren't in the same place just yet. (sigh)

But fear not, for there is hope! (cheer)

You don't have to purchase a brand new factory made electric bicycle in order to enjoy the benefits of an e-bike. Know, why? Because you already have a bike.

Yeah?

No?

Maybe?

Sure you do or you're reading the wrong article.

Well dust off that old bike and get ready to take some notes because I'm gonna show you how to pimp your ride.

Converting Bike to Electric

Intro : There are many different kits to choose from when converting a bike to electric. If you're a tech geek (shout out to my peeps) , then you can get crazy and build your bike from scratch. Each piece can be found individually from any number of places when you know what you're looking for. We'll get to that in a bit. But, whatever route you choose to take, the same basic installation procedures still apply. When purchasing a kit you should consider wether you want front or rear wheel drive. Also you want to make sure that your bike is compatible with the kit that you choose. Specifications can be found on vendor websites and PDFs are often available for such information as well as detailed installation instructions.

Parts: wheel motor, battery, throttle, controller, on/off switch, connection wires

Step 1: Get a Bike

I know that sounds difficult but it's actually easier than you might think. But if that's too hard for you, then just the frame or a donor bike will do. One wheel will be replaced with the e-bike kits hub motor wheel anyway but the tire and inner tube can easily be transferred from old wheel to new.

Step 2: Tranfer your existing tire and inner tube onto your new ebike wheel and install onto the frame. This is basiclly a matter of tightening a couple screws.

Step 3: Install throttle and break handles

Step 4: Install battery.

Step 5: Mount the controller

Step 6: Run the wires

Step 7: Connect the electronics

Step 8: Final adjustments

Step 9: Test drive and enjoy
