This article throws light on certain basic training steps that one must take training with before starting the task of doing mountain biking. This article emphasizes on the extreme need to do so in order to reduce the risk level of mountain biking rather than repenting it later.

There are certain basic skills and training that one must take time to move with in order to have a safe mountain bike riding. Thus this must be your first priority to master these basic skills in order to be on the safe side. As mountain biking is similar to normal biking to some extent only but involves higher risk.

The better you practice the best will be the result and the low will be the risk involved in mountain biking. Do it step-by-step, do not overdo all the things together.

Step 1: Practicing on pedals should be your first step towards making yourself capable of mountain biking. Do it also slowly with practice. For instance, you can do with one foot on the pedal and the second on the ground in the beginning. Then slowly you can practice doing with both your foot on the pedals along with balance maintenance.

Step 2: Learn the right posture and the ability to relax. You can do it by making yourself comfortable to adjusting your seat height in the manner that your foot stays 70 to 90 percent extended at the bottom of every stroke. As far as posture is concerned keep your arms slightly bent. Remember that the first priority must be that your body must be comfortable and relaxed in every position of pedaling your bike.

Step 3: Learn to shift gears. Learn what they are for and their working. The higher gears go faster and are hard to pedal useful for descending the hill. Lower gears are easier to pedal and will work best when you are ascending the hill.

Step 3: Learn bike coasting by coasting some of your time without actually sitting on the bike and standing on pedals. Experiment as far as you can because that gets you to learn lots of things.

Step 4: Learn to pedal standing on your bike without relying on the seat of the bike similar to that of learning bicycle pedaling. Try doing it on flat ground with high gears then on hill with low gears.

Once you are pretty finished practicing these skill you are quite prepare for mountain bike riding. You can do this in a nearby place to your residence. Make sure you master these skills before you jump onto a mountain bike for the adventurous ride.
