How To Build BMX Wood Jumps

Learning how to build BMX wood jumps is not too hard. To begin, you will need a solid understanding of tool use and craftsmanship, but after some time making a jump, you will have a great source of biking fun. Follow the steps below to build yourself a solid BMX wood jump.

To build BMX wood jumps, you will need:

  • Plywood sheets
  • Two-by-four boards
  • A hammer
  • Nails
  • A powered saw
  1. Buy everything that you will need for your BMX wood jump. You can get these materials from any home improvement or construction supply store.
  2. Decide upon the size and dimensions of your wooden bike jump. It should be shaped like a right triangle, where the hypotenuse will represent the sloped ramp which you will ride up when performing BMX tricks.
  3. Cut two two-by-fours to the length of the base, two to the length of the height, and two to the length of the hypotenuse. Then, cut about ten two-by-fours to the size of the width of the jump that you are building.
  4. Assemble a two-by-four frame. Assemble the two triangular sides, and then attach the cuts made to the size of the width of the wooden jump by nailing these cuts between the two sides (between the six two-by-fours that make the triangular sides). You should now have a wooden BMX jump frame.
  5. Using the powered saw, cut plywood panels that correspond to the sides, bottom, top and back of the jump. Nail these to the frame, so that the two-by-four jump skeleton is now covered in plywood, and you have a homemade BMX wood jump which may be put to use.

Building BMX wood jumps is not too hard for those who have any kind of background involving tool use or shop work. Take your time and construct the jump carefully, and before you know it, you can be doing bike tricks at home with your wooden jump.
