Start Catching More Fish Today! After Reading This Article

If you want to start catching more fish, there are some simple steps to initiate this process. Fishing isn't complicated, and learning a few simple techniques can help the average angler immensely. They are simple and often go unnoticed by many anglers. Never forget what Steven Wright said, "There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot." Begin using the below suggestions to start catching more fish.

1) When presenting live bait you want to present your offering in the most natural way possible. We want our live bait to look like it's "alive". Actually, we want it to actually be alive. If your worm or minnow looks dead, bait up a new one. We want our live bait to actually be "alive", as well as looking as natural as possible.

2) Don't be afraid to use small hooks. Most anglers use hooks that are entirely too large. I personally use size 10 hooks for 75% of my fishing trips. For those of you who don't know how big a size 10 hook is, it's quite small, trust me. I like to have two size 10 hooks tied in tandem, thus creating a gang hook. I catch fish up to eight pounds on size 10 hooks. Think about it….the smaller your hook; the less visible it will be to the fish.

3) Use lighter fishing line. Just like hooks, most anglers use fishing line that's entirely too heavy. For example, four pound test monofilament can hold four pounds of weight without breaking! Not to mention the fact that you have the play in the rod, the drag from the reel, and your skills with both to help with the fighting of the fish. Heavy line just isn't necessary in many cases. I've seen people fishing on a trout river with eight pound test! This is total overkill, and will affect the amount of fish you catch.

4) Watch your shadow! I'm speaking mainly of wading in rivers or streams on this one. I've seen many anglers attempt to fish a hole, while casting a shadow onto that same hole! If the fish detect a shadow (from an angler) it will cut your chances of catching a fish is half! Pay attention to where you're casting a shadow.

5) Use the weather and moon to your advantage. Particularly the phases of the moon, the moon has a major impact on the feeding activity of fish and is more or less simple to use to your advantage. Just do a little research on the subject and it will pay great dividends in the amount of fish you catch.

Begin employing these tips today, and you will begin to catch more fish; it's as simple as that. Many times the simple things are the most effective. Get out there and good fishing.
