Using Scented Bait

2016/7/16 16:29:57

It's well documented that many fish are attracted through a sense of smell. Catfish, for instance, love stink bait. Salmon have a keen sense of smell, and of course the most well known of them all is that a shark can follow a blood trail from miles away. Almost all creatures secret pheromones, making scent/smell an important part of their lives for various situations. In the case of fish, scent is an important part of feeding.

Many anglers write to fishing guru's asking the question, should they use scent. Most pro's will say yes. So use scent to attract fish, or just to cover up any smell that will repel the fish from the bait... and then with the Baitrix artificial bait on the line, the 'catching' will follow!

Using various Scents with Baitrix artificial bait is simple. You can add scent to a Baitrix Herring or Anchovy easily: using a sharp knife, cut a 3/4″ to 1″ slot along the belly, about 1/2″ deep, just behind the pectoral fins; then apply a generous amount of Oil or Gel scent. Press closed. On our Tunables, insert on the bottom.

Using any kind of scent to catch fish can be very good for your fishing but it does get confusing with all of the different claims all of the fishing scent manufactures make.
