A Look into Fishing for Recreation

Many people consider that all fish are for our survival or a snack yet there is another angle that is little known. The manufacturing industry utilizes over two billion pounds of fish products per year. Oddly enough this is slightly more than is used for food.

What most people don't realize is that the sport of fishing is providing a good recreational activity which makes it a very popular pastime for all kinds of people In fact, fishing as a hobby is becoming more popular which explains why the volume of people that get a fishing license each year is more than 12 million.

In addition, surveys show that with every dollar spent in a fishing license there are sixteen dollars spent for equipment, such as fishing tackle, food, clothing, and transportation. You might be amazed to find out that more money is shelled out for the sport of fishing than any other hobby.

So, why is it a Great Hobby? It is a good way of providing a way to free the mind and body of the stresses and the daily worries. It has also been proven to help in mentoring troubled teens, by replacing negative thoughts among other things, with more positive traits and pursuits. Fishing is truly a great way to pass time.

Utilization of different types of gear has definitely added things that no other feature could ever do. Today thousands of children and teens are ready and willing to learn how to cast a line. These young people are interested in fish and fishing and they want to fish in a lawful and fun way.

Stripped down to it's fundamentals fish and fishing might be seen as just one of man's few essential resources. It is hoped that further realization of fishing as a hobby will develop knowledge of the real value of fishing including the fish, and conservation of natural resources and the value of good sportsmanship and the development of good citizens.
