Review: Furuno FCV 295 Fishfinder

There is a huge difference between fishing in a river, lake or pond, and trying out some deep sea fishing. So it naturally goes that the equipment you would use in each is going to vary as well. Different settings require different types of equipment. If you are a serious deep sea fisherman, then you need fishfinders that are going to help make your hobby or job a lot easier. The Furuno FCV 295 Fishfinder is just one such tool that can make the difference between a nibble from a small fish and a bite from a large fish.

Though it may be tempting for you to rush out and purchase the Furuno FCV 295, you should keep in mind that this fishfinder is not for recreational fishing on a river. This highly advanced fishfinder is far more useful in an ocean or deep water setting if you are a professional fisherman and need to catch large fish or large schools of fish for your job.

The comparatively large 10.4 inch color screen provides clarity even in full sun, a significant advantage. Cheaper fishfinders are often unreadable when light is shining directly on the screen. You do not have to worry about that with this model. As well, it locates fish and echoes back the precise size of not only the individual fish but the entire school. For professional fishermen, this is invaluable.

Another feature is the frequency variance, which ranges between 28 and 200 kHz. And you can even choose the color in which the echo will be displayed, enabling you to see the difference between all sorts of objects, animate or inanimate.

All in all, the Furuno FCV 295 Fishfinder is a wonder of technology and probably well worth the asking price of around $2,500. But it is not right for everyone. The professional fisherman is going to get a lot more use out of it than the amateur fisherman who only likes to fish once or twice a year.
