Lake Of The Woods Fishing - A Must Do For Any Fisherman

2016/7/16 16:34:18

Lake of the Woods is located in Minnesota, near the Canadian border. In addition to the fishing on the lake, you will find many forms of wildlife. No matter what season of the year, you will find Lake of the Woods fishing is among the best in the world.

This lake is large and offers may bays along its many miles of shoreline. In addition, you will find over 14000 islands on the lake. Fish found in the lake include walleye, sauger, northern pike, small mouth bass and perch.

As the temperature of the lake transitions in the fall and in the spring the best fishing is in the warmer shallow waters. When the lake hits its warmest temperatures in the summer, the fish prefer the cooler shade of the rock reefs. Winter months offer excellent ice fishing. Each season offers great fishing if you follow the fish.

The huts for ice fishing are allowed to be on the ice until the end of March. Huts and ice fishing equipment can be rented at the lake if you are lacking in your own equipment. Fishing on the ice allows anglers to be twenty to thirty miles out on the ice. It is important to call ahead near the beginning and end of the ice fishing season as changing temperatures can make it unsafe to be on the ice.

Walleye season ends about mid April. This gives two weeks after the huts have to be off of the lake. Fishing for other species is available the remainder of the year. Northern pike season never ends at Lake of the Woods.

You will find there are many activities in the area other than Lake of the Woods fishing. Your family may enjoy snowmobiling during the winter. Other parts of the years offer great golfing, flea markets, craft fairs and other opportunities for shopping.
