Underwater Lighting Makes Night Fishing Easier

2016/7/16 16:36:00

Are you one of the many people who would rather fish in the calm hours of the night? If you are, then you will know that visibility can be an issue. When you use underwater lighting, the problem goes away.

For some time, people who regularly fish at night have taken advantage of this technology. The illumination has the ability to not only make things clearer: it also draws in smaller bait fish, such as plankton, which in turn attracts game fish. With illumination you are also assured of a safer and more enjoyable time on the water. If your goal is to have a more productive night's fishing, it is important to include underwater illumination, whether this is in the form of boat lights or lights which illuminate from the shore or pontoon.

Obviously, it is still necessary to do some research as to where to find selected species of fish and the best conditions: however, the presence of underwater LED lights will significantly boost your chances.

How does nocturnal illumination work? Game fish are able to detect differences in color and intensity of light that the bait fish cannot. All fish and shrimp are attracted to light at night. Bait fish are not able to react as quickly as the game fish to the light. The smaller fish gather around the light, making easy pickings for the fish you want to catch. As such, to guarantee that you attract both game and bait fish, choose either blue or green lights. This way, you are guaranteeing a good night's fishing.

Marine lighting should include the following factors: *high intensity *be either blue or green *be able to run on a portable supply of electricity such as a battery *able to be submersed: lights that are either fixed on the boat or used on land are not efficient as a large amount of their energy results in water surface reflection.

It is understood that fluorescent lights are better than halogen or incandescent lights, because they use approximately 10 percent of the power. When you are choosing your lighting, it is best to opt for a fluorescent light that uses approximately 25-40 watts to produce 1000 to 3000 lumen's each.

LED lighting is another form of underwater illumination that has seen an increase in popularity over recent years. Until now, this form of lighting was shunned and thought to be less efficient than incandescent lighting. With developments in technology the LED has now proven to be a great deal more efficient and intense when compared to the incandescent.

Keep in mind that color and intensity of the light are the most significant factors, so when you are comparing prices, keep these in mind. If you are budget conscious, there are cheaper alternatives, but these will not afford you the same degree of light and color. The best quality underwater fluorescent fishing lights will cost in the range of $160 and $200.

Whatever lighting you choose, remember to research the pros and cons of the item: after all, it wouldn't do to be out fishing|on a fishing expedition, only for your equipment to fail at a crucial moment!
