2016/7/16 16:36:28

Kayak fishing is growing in popularity all the time. More people are learning that it can be a fun and relaxing way to go fishing. It's a great way to stay in shape because you will get plenty of exercise. In fact, at first, you may even be a little sore for awhile but you'll get use to it.

A kayak will allow you to get into areas that no boat could ever dream of getting into. There are other advantages to using a kayak as well. For example, they are easier to handle by yourself than a boat. Therefore, if you tend to go out fishing by yourself often, you may find it to be the best vessel for you. Many anglers find that they end up going fishing more than ever before after purchasing a kayak due to all the benefits it has to offer.

Kayaks are also more affordable than boats, even the smaller aluminum ones. They're easier to handle both on the water and during transportation. In fact, you don't even need a trailer because you can put the kayak on the back of a truck or tie it to the roof of your car to transport it from your home to the water. Due to their lightweight you can easily lift them by yourself. If you're ready to give kayak fishing a try, below are a few tips that can help you get started.

Five kayak fishing tips and techniques that can enhance your fishing experience:
Always keep everything tired down. This is very important because it is so easy to flip over or drop items into and the water. It's even recommended that you keep a float attached to everything you can so it will be easier to get it back on board if it ends up in the water. It's also a good idea to carry a dry-box or have some other way to keep your valuables dry in the event you end up in the water unexpectedly.

Take along the right gear for the trip. Gear needed for a kayak fishing trip includes rods and reels, tackle box, anchor, live wells and more. Some of the more advanced fishing kayaks will have rod holders, GPS systems, coolers and even electronic fish finders.

Use the trolling technique while you're moving through the water to take advantage of every opportunity you can to catch fish. Once you reach your destination anchor down and start jig fishing. Using the anchor will make it easier for you to keep the kayak steady while you're fishing. If you have a good current, drift fishing is also very popular.

The sit-on-top open cockpit model is recommended for fishing. The reason for this is because they have self-draining scuppers and they have extra stability due to the wide beam they are designed with. They are the easiest to use out of all the models when you're kayak fishing.
