What Do I Need to Know To Go Night Fishing For Crappie?

Do you enjoy crappie fishing? These huge sunfish that reside in freshwater grow to about a foot in length, and 1-2 pounds in weight. Crappies exist in two varieties: black and white. If you enjoy eating lean fish, then the crappie is an ideal fish for you! It is particularly tasty when sauted or broiled. If you want to dine on crappies for breakfast, then consider crappie fishing at night. Here are some tips to make your fishing session successful:

Use a headlamp or submersible light. These tools are definitely must-haves for any type of night fishing, including crappie fishing. In particular, another of the effective crappie fishing tips is to consider choosing a light that you affix to the fishing line above whichever bait you are using. This type of light is so effective that the fish will believe that it is daytime!

Look for Shallow Water With a Lot of Cover. Remember that unless you have a special spot in mind, you should look for something very specific. Take some time and look for an area that is near the bank or in the shallows at the dock. Look for places that are no deeper than twenty feet. A dock will let you hang up your light very effectively and it can also help you bring in the plankton, which in turn bring the minnows, which in turn will bring in the crappies that you are looking for. This is an impressively easy way to bring the crappies towards your area and you'll find that it is very effective as well. Make sure that you don't underestimate the importance of picking a good spot.

Use a Good Fishing Rod Holder. This is true for fishing at any time of day, but at night, you are going to find that a fishing rod holder is essential. Remember that above all, you do not want to lose the fishing rod that you brought along. Take some time to paint the tip of your fishing rod white. This will let you see when you have a crappie taking the pat.

Bring Along an Electronic Depth Finder. Unless you know an area well, you don't know what is deep and what is shallow. If you are going for a deep place to find your crappies, bring along an electronic depth finder. A good model will tell you a lot about where you are trying to fish.

Replicate Your Day's Success. Remember that when you are using a headlamp or a submersible light, you are going to be able to stimulate fishing for crappies during the day. The techniques to catch crappies who think it is light include using a blend of dark and light jigs, and if you see a gang of bait fish under your light, don't hesitate to use minnows as as pbait as well. Finally, remember that you can always drop fishing lines at various depths and allow the lines to float freely until you start getting the bites that you need.

If you like crappie fishing and night fishing, then try crappie night fishing. These aforementioned tips can shed some light on how to make your crappy fishing happy rather than sappy.
