2016/7/16 16:40:36

Fishing is one of the world's most popular sports that loved by millions. There are many different methods of fishing that include using a variety of gear.

Anglers use rod and reels, nets, traps and some even use their hands to physically catch different species of fish. Some anglers fish for fun, others for the sport and still others do it for the food it provides. There are so many different species of fish it would take too long to list them all but the crappie is among the most sought after species in the US.

Anglers range in all ages and skill levels but one thing they all have in common is that everyone is responsible for learning and obeying the crappie fishing regulations that govern each state. These laws are designed and put in place for a reason and it's vital that they are followed by everyone that goes fishing.

It's important to realize that each state has its own unique rules that are made specifically for a particular area and you need to learn these before going crappie fishing. However, below is a guide to crappie fishing regulations in the United States to give you an idea of what you can expect.

Basic Regulations for Crappie Fishing in the US

Anytime you go crappie fishing in the United States one of the first things that you must obtain is a fishing license. Children will not be required to have a fishing license provided they are accompanied by an adult but the age requirement will vary from state to state.

For instance, in some states anyone sixteen years old and up will need a license and in others it may be seventeen and so forth. Therefore, you need to find out the age requirement anytime you go crappie fishing in a new location in case it's different from the state in which you are use to fishing.

Most states will have a daily limit on the crappie. What this means is that you cannot keep more than the set number of crappie during anytime while engaged in fishing. If you have caught your limit you will either need to stop fishing or throw back all the ones that exceed your limit. The daily set limit is for a twenty-four hour period so it's illegal for a person to take home their limit and return to do more fishing during the same day unless you are fishing for a different species.

Normally, the number of crappie that you store in your home is unlimited but it's important to understand that when transporting the fish you are only allowed to have the daily limit for that area in your possession. Normally, there is no specific time set for when you can go fishing for crappie. In other words, you can fish for crappie anytime of the year because they're not a seasonal species.

Since crappies can grow and thrive very well in many areas you will find that you are allowed to catch as many of them as you want and they can be any size in some places.
