If you are searching for one of the most exciting places to go fishing in the United States you should make plans to visit Florida's Cocoa Beach. It is considered the most productive and diverse fishing area found in the United States.

Cocoa Beach Flats Fishing Tips

When fishing at Cocoa Beach in the late spring inshore fishing is very popular. Search for snook and other species around docks, canals and inlets. By late summer and early fall offshore fishing for tarpon is one of the main attractions. In the winter months fishing around the edges of the flats out near the deeper waters will produce black drum, grouper and sheepshead.

Fishing from flat bottom boats is the best way to go inshore fishing. These allow you to get out into the grass flats and all along the edges of the drop-offs where the fish are located in search of baitfish.

Some of the biggest fish can be found in the shallow water so don't make the mistake of thinking you have to go out into the deep water to reel in the big one.

Before you go fishing in the flats you need to decide which type of fishing you are going to do. This way you will know what type of gear is needed before you go out on the water.

Offshore deep-sea fishing will require stronger equipment than what you would need for inshore fishing.
