3 Tips On Catching Rainbow Trout Out Of Stocked Ponds

As a fisher person one of the fish I love to go after and have for a long time is stocked rainbow trout. It can be very tricky picking the right artificial baits, or figuring out what presentation is going to work best. Any one who has gone after trout will usually agree that they are some of the most exciting fish to catch. Of course many people focus on catching trout in their natural habitats but as the years moved forward I also discovered that stocked trout can turn out to be just as much fun as catching them in their natural habitat.

For the most part through the years when it came to fishing for stocked trout I usually caught them in reservoirs or rivers that have been regularily stocked. The biggest difference between stocked and wild trout is the type of food they eat at the beginning stages of their lives. Of course when it comes to wild fish they rely on live bait like bugs, flies, small fish and whatever they find in their wild habitat. When it comes to the stocked trout they are fed normally and they have different kinds of vitamins and stuff introduced into their diets. As they eat more they get quite used to the artificial food that is fed to them in the early stages of life. So when they are let out into the wild they go looking for food that is similiar to the food they have been eating. As a fisher person it is up to us to recognize what the fish are looking for and cater our approach to work for the stocked fish.

1. When it comes to using baits for stocked fish you will want to use things like power baits. These baits are artificial and they are made so that they also have artificial scents for the fish to be attracted to.

2. The next thing that will work quite well are worms and marshmallows. The thing with these is you want to try and present them in levels that you know the fish are biting at. Be sure you dont use worms that are too big. Trout have smaller mouths so even if you dont like it the best thing to do is break the worms in half or in quarters. Always be sure the marshmallow goes on the hook first and then it is followed by the worms.

3. For many years fake salmon eggs have been a favorite and they are very effective. The best way to fish salmon eggs is with a bobber. The nice thing about using a bobber is it is relatively easy to get the bait in the right depth to get the trout biting.

In many cases you can even use lures for stocked trout. The thing with lures is that if you try it for a while and you get no hits you should move on to something else because that usually means that these particuliar fish on this day dont care about the lure. This is usually the case for stocked or wild trout.

When it comes to catching a fish there is no way anyone can ever guarattee the fact that you will catch a fish. What can be guaranteed is with these tips you do stand a better chance at catching fish. Again it comes to practice making you perfect. Lots of time all you have to do is let the fish dictate to you what is going to work on this day. As long as you keep on fishing at the end of the day you stand a good chance of catching a fish.
