Dreaming Of New Fishing Destinations

If you are like me you can become bored fishing the same old local river all the time. You know every beat and flow and you can describe the scenery blindfolded. OK there are great days when the catches are good and there are bad days but it's also nice to watch videos of anglers catching fish in far off places. Perhaps you have read about it in books and magazines. Well if you continue to read on we will discuss all about dreaming of new fishing destinations that you would want to fish.

I have been involved in fishing for most of my life and have had the opportunity to fish some great rivers locally and a few internationally and all that has done is fuel my desire to fish loads of exotic places that I have read about or watched videos about. I love to travel anyway and to add in fishing just builds the excitement and craving for far off shores.

I love watching videos of anglers fish for bone fish off sandy flats wading in shorts and light shirts with the sun beaming down through skies of brilliant blue. Those guys make it look easy but I'm sure the challenge of casting into an onshore breeze trying to target a single bone fish many yards away would be frustrating.

Seeing guys catching Giant Trevally off a breaking beach with a single handed fly rod casting a heavy lure out into the breaking surf look amazing. Also what about the pictures of guys fishing for Atlantic Salmon up to 40 pounds off the rugged rivers of Scandinavia with its breath taking scenery.

Or what about just a tranquil river where you and a gillie are left alone all day to explore and search for Grayling on small light weight set ups, heaven on earth. Each turn of a corner opens up new possibilities of catching your lifetime best.

After reading a recent book I started wondering how does someone go about getting information on some of these far off places. I could have gone to the travel agents or asked fishing friends but I thought there has to be something handier. So I started searching the internet and found that there is more to finding fishing destinations than meets the eye. You have to consider cost, distances travelled, permits, language etc, etc, I suppose it's not much different than a family vacation except you are packing rods, reels and flies rather than flip flops and trunks.

Well I hope my article has wetted your appetite for far shore fly fishing adventures and I hope to see you some time on a sandy beach just remember to bring your fly rod.
