A Brief Look at the Best Cold Water Bass Fishing Techniques

2016/7/18 10:29:07

Fortunately, there is a number of useful cold water bass fishing techniques that you can learn about in regard to catching bass fish in cold waters.

Less Active

Humans know that the best way to stay warm in cold weather is to move about. This is because the more active they are the more blood will flow in their bodies – thereby helping to keep the body warmer. However, bass do the opposite in cold weather and will become less active when the temperatures drop. This means that you will need to change your bass fishing techniques if you want to achieve success in cold water bass fishing.

The first cold water bass fishing technique that you will need to learn is that bass fish move much slower in cold water and so it is necessary that you too learn to adapt your technique to take this factor into account. So, if you place fast moving bait the bass will not bite at it as it will move slowly and only bite at things that too are moving slowly. The right cold water bass fishing technique means learning to alter your fishing speed and slow it down so that the bass accepts the bait. Patience is of course a key factor that of course will help you succeed in implementing the right cold water bass fishing techniques.

Another cold water bass fishing technique that you should learn is that you have to pick the baits that work better in cold water. This also means picking baits that can be left in one place at the bottom of the body of water after which you just need to ensure moving it a very slow pace and twitch it if you encounter some cover.

Another important cold water bass fishing technique and one that is often overlooked and which has little to do with catching of the fish is learning about dressing properly for the cold weather. This even means that you will need to dress in layers so that you are properly attired for different weather conditions. And, the most important cold water bass fishing technique is that you have to learn to try and think like the fish and also learn to be patient and to accept that in cold water bass fishing chances of getting the bass to bite frequently is pretty remote.

Learning pro bass techniques means first of all understanding that it is necessary that you understand the bass fish for what it is. This in turn means accepting the fact that bass fish are predators that will lie in wait to catch their prey that they will then ambush and eat. This means that it will pay to fish near cover because that is where the bass wait for their prey and which is when they are most likely to bite at your bait.
