Fishing Rod Holder

2016/7/18 10:30:13

No matter what style of fishing you like, with the exception of fly fishing, a fishing rod holder is one of the perfect conveniences to make certain you can fish as comfortably as possible. The most common type of fishing rod holder is designed for use with a river, lake, or sea craft, taking the strain from your arms and hands while you sit back and relax and fish. These are typically permanently mounted into the boat, giving a really secure hold on the rod while also making it easy to release the rod if you get a strike to your lure.

For those who are used to surf or shore fishing, you can purchase a fishing rod holder as well. These come in several styles, either mounted to a chair or attached to a pole, pier or another object located near the water's edge. This style of fishing rod holder is less secure than the permanently mounted onces found on many boats. In many cases, it is suggested that you use these holders for calmer fishing situations, or when your rod is not in the water.

The final type of fishing rod holder that can be purchased is for ice fishing. These special holders are designed to secure your rod onto the ice so that they are not dragged into the hole when a fish strikes the lure. Like surf or shore fishing rod holders, these holders are less secure than those found on boats. However, due to the fact that fish are sluggish in winter, this style of fishing rod holder is extremely good at remaining in place. Higher quality holders will include spurred feet that will grab into the ice and have a better hold. As well, they are often designed to be frozen onto the ice through application of the near frozen water pulled out of the ice fishing hole when you are keeping the holes clear.

No matter which type of fishing rod holder you invest in, there are a variety of different qualities that you can purchase. Low quality holders are typically designed to be storage for rods not in use, while high quality fishing rod holders are meant for when you are actively fishing and need to give your hands a rest.

If you are prone to hand cramps while fishing, you will want to invest in a fishing rod holder, as this will help prevent an unnecessary strain injury.
