2016/7/18 10:30:28

If you have never gone bass fishing at night in Florida, then you are missing a one-of-a-kind fishing experience.

Safety First

Before you go night fishing for Florida bass, some basic safety precautions are in order. Never go night fishing alone. Always take a partner. As an extra precaution, make sure to tell someone where you are going and when you should be back. Arrange to have a time when your stay-at-home partner will start looking for you if you are not home yet.

Where To Go

The best place to go Florida night bass fishing is the same place where you to Florida day bass fishing. The fish are generally going to spend time at night in the same places where they spend time during the day: in shallow water with lots of dense vegetation like reeds and grasses. Well lit docks are another popular bass fishing spot.

One of the most appealing things about fishing for Florida bass at night is that it makes fishing an entirely different experience, even for lifelong day fishermen. The usual fishing environment is bright, hot summer weather. The most successful fishing is often done early in the morning and at dusk. However, great fishing can also be done after dark.

For day fishermen, fishing in the dark will seem like a whole new experience. Fish, insects and other bass prey all behave differently at night than they do during the day, when the light is bright and temperatures are high. There is just an excitement about night fishing for bass in Florida that day fishing cannot capture. That's why night fishing is such a popular tradition in Florida.

Another advantage of night fishing is that it is so quiet at night. During the day you are competing with other fishermen, boat traffic, jet skis, windsurfers and the like. In contrast, there is little to no traffic on the water at night. You will have the whole lake to yourself, along with the coast guard, of course.

What Flies To Use

For Florida night bass fishing, the most important thing about your bait is its visibility. Light colored lures, or white lures or lures in bright yellow neon shades are best for night fishing.

What Night Fishing Light To Use

Every night time fisherman needs a light to use while fishing. The best light to use is the Night Stalker, sold by the Pro Bass Shop chain. Other lights tend to attract too many bugs or to shine in the fisherman's partner's eyes. The Night Stalker uses a fluorescent bulb and casts a soft, gentle light on the fishing environment. Another option is to use a black light bulb in you Night Stalker night fishing light. Black light makes you line show up very easily in the dark.
