BB Guns and Safety Measures

BB Guns and airsoft guns have gained quite popularity in the U.K. They are identical to the real guns and come in various original designs. However the guns' use demands certain safety measures to follow because they have proved to be quite hazardous and brought injuries to quite a lot of people in the country.

Law authorities have therefore prescribed certain conditions for the ownership and usage of BB Guns.  For example, one cannot own a Black BB Gun without a proper licence from the concerned authority. Moreover, one cannot spray paint the gun with any other colour except the original paint from the manufacturer; they are available in two colours only approved by the authorities. BB Guns can only be used by adults only. However, persons between the ages of 14 to 18 can use it under guidance of an adult.

BB guns and Airsoft guns should not be treated as toys; they can be as dangerous as a real gun.

Read thoroughly the safety instructions received at the time purchase and learn it by heart.

Read the instructions for use and learn how to load, unload, clean and safe keep the gun.

BB guns should only be loaded when in use; otherwise unload the gun, check the chamber thoroughly and be sure it is devoid of pallets, then put it away safely under lock and key.

Before using, check the gun meticulously that it is empty.

Check that its muzzle is free of any obstructive object, such as a pallet or even cotton or paper.

Always practice shooting with BB gun in an open, proper area without any human activity.

Check thoroughly that the area around target is absolutely devoid of any person or even a hard object which may cause ricocheting of the spent pallet.

Any family member or bystander near the gun-user must stay far from him and behind him to avoid any mishap. Just a couple of days ago a gun trainer in U.S. A. died who was coaching a 9 year old boy to shoot, Avoid such occasion by keeping far away from the shooter.

After usage, clean the gun completely and double check the muzzle and carbine and then pack it away under lock and key.

Uses prescribed batteries only and never overcharge them. During charging be careful that the battery does not overheat.
