Know about Sebile Lures

2016/7/18 16:14:40

New lures appear on the market almost every other day, many copied from others, especially those coming in from China. Thus it is surprising when you find a whole new range that really does break new ground.

I recently received a parcel from Nomad Charters that contained an assortment of Sebile lures for testing. These lures are designed by Frenchman, Patrick Seble one of the hardest working fisherman roaming the globe. It would not be an overstatement but his lures are a phenomenon and over 20 million have been sold on the US market alone in just 18 months!

Keeton Eoff, US National Sales Manager, says Patrick is a great student of predators and prey and therefore every item of design in his lures is for a reason. Essentially, innovation is a major reason for the worldwide success of Sebile.

While using the Sebile Lures, I found they closely mimic the natural traits of baitfish. Not surprisingly, this makes many fact act very aggressively when a Sebile dances past their nose.

I especially like the Possessed and Blood Red models, which have a type of oily fluid inside their hollow bodies. This brings it alive when shaken, especially when I jigged and trolled in water.

This action akin to perpetual motion when the stuff is shaken up. It also makes these lures a lot easier to cast because the fluid movement improves balance during mid-flight.

There are others, the Sebile Majestic Swimmer, a very realist acting and swimming jointed minnow. The latter is the most successful lure to hit the USA almost single-handedly put Sebile on the market. It's an instant success story that has seen it also score many wins in the professional bass circuit.

Sebile Design

Sebile Lures are well made and super strong to ensure they are very reliable. That is not surprising as Patrick Sebile travels the world in search of fish. Last year he was in Australia fishing for barramundi in Tinaroo. These have been added to the over 600 species of fish he has so far caught world-wide.

Having "discovered" Australia I reckon he will be back for more as we have some of the most testing fishing conditions in the world.

Sebile lures are designed to entice all predatory species to take a bite, no matter how big or small, and with a range of sizes to suit all sizes of fishes. They are strongly reinforced with doubled stainless that runs through the lure end –to-end and matched with Owner extra-strong hooks and split rings.

Even the hollow-bodied lures have extra strength to withstand hard toothy bites, with new 2011 models having stainless steel plate internal construction that Sebile says will defy destruction by fish.

The finish on these lures is excellent with a good range of colours and patterns available, include in the Possessed and Blood Red colours that have glitter or blood-red fluid inside the hollow bodies.

When the lure is jerked, the fluid gives off a low frequency sound to entice aquatic critters to eat it. The fluid weight transfer helps a lot when casting and also enables the lure to swim different to others. Some models have an inbuilt heavy weight metal transfer system.

The ACast and Koolie Minnows, Crankster and Rattsler come in multiple lips to function at different depths and produce various fish attracting action. The lips are edged a little from the body, which helps in longer casts, easier retrieve, better feels and deep smoother swim-motion dives. They have compressed high sides that aid in swimming in a life-like fashion and have proved to be attractive to predators.

There are many new innovations, like the funny looking shapes of the Slim Stick, Ghost Walker, Bonga Jerk, Splasher, eels and others, that swim different enough to entice even lure shy fish in heavily fished areas to investigate and strike. They are also handy as a top water lure and can be used similar to one for the Sebile's poppers. I found them to be especially effective on barra and queenfish effective on barra and queenfish during low light conditions.

Soft Bait Models

You want rubbers? Yes, Sebile has rubbers, worms – and jig heads too. They come complete with a unique hidden hook and soft weight system that makes them virtually snag-proof, great for snag fishing. These things not only look fishy, but swim like fish as well. The weight system allows extra weights to be used with the bait for longer casting distance, control, depth, sinking speed, action, retrieve and to maximize the action of the horizontal sinking lure.

Sebile also caters for top water stuff with the Shad spinner baits, Proppler Buzz, Spin Shad, poppers and bibbless lures that cater for all fishing applications when fish are feeding on the top. And if you want depth, the Koolie Minnow Long Lip 240 is the deepest diving swimming lure in the world, with over 24m recorded. Other Koolie's range to 12m and deeper. If you know of some deep sea tuna that are out of reach, this no longer applies. Sebile will get you down deep like never before.

Admittedly, there's always a lot of market hype when new products are launched. However, this is one new brand that really does live up to the hype and is worth a look.
