Changing Your Techniques Based On Lake Seminole Bass Fishing Forecasts

2016/7/18 16:40:08

Lake Seminole is consistently ranked at the top of the list for the best bass fishing lakes in the US. Currently it is ranked fifth in the nation. Located in southwest Georgia, near Bainbridge, this lake is near perfect as a bass habitat.

You will find extensive grass beds and stump coverage. This provides ample cover for lunker and hybrid bass the year through.Though many acres boast that the Chatahoochieside is the best, the Seminole is a great lake over all, and particularly if you fish near the main river channel.

If you are hoping to catch sunshine bass, consider fishing early in the fall or late in the summer, and look for schooling shad as a tell tale sign that the sunshine bass will be nearby. Many people think this is too late in the year for this type of fishing, but there will be less fishing pressure and the action will be great! Try a deep squidding spoon or a surface shad plug, and you are sure to see some great action!

If you can luck onto a school of shad, particularly in the rocky cover areas at this time of year, you are going to have some of the best hybrid fishing you could imagine.

Now, something you might want to try, of you are going to fish these shad schools for the feeding hybrids is a 3 1/2 inch croc spoon. But, try this…paint a bright blue line about halfway down the back of the lure. Use a permanent marker in bright blue. About any silver spoon will do, as long as it has that telltale blue stripe. You will be surprised at the difference it makes.

On your fishfinder, pay close attention to areas where you see a large rise in the bottom, and it is clear of any weeds or other obstacles. It is not uncommon to catch seven pound hybrids in these conditions. The best time of day is usually when the sun is just coming up or just as it is going down. The waning sunshine seems to signal that they will be on the scene!

In the summertime, fish over sandbars from the beginning to the middle of July.

This is one of the best times to catch sunshines on Seminole. When the water is hot, it is not uncommon to find thousands of shad gathered over the sandbars. The sunshines come in off the bottom and when they see the shad bunched up there above them, they go into a feeding frenzy. Try to keep the size of your lure about what the shad are, or net you some, and use the live bait to fish.

Most of the anglers in this area who are experienced hybrid fishermen, believe the sunshines can see better in lower light situations when it the sun is just coming up or going down, and they really go into high feed mode at these times.

Though the window of opportunity for prime action seems narrow, the action is so great that you will get all you want from just about the time you are able to see the treetops until about 9:30 AM.
