Fishing In Florida - Why Its So Great

2016/7/21 16:31:41

There are many hot spots to fish at in Florida, this is why it is considered to be one of the best places to fish in the world. With places like the Florida Keys, Tampa Bay and the everglades, why would you not want to fish in Florida.

The great thing about saltwater fishing in Florida is that you do not necessarily have to go offshore to catch fish. Not everyone has access to a boat, and there are plenty of game fish that can be caught while fishing inshore in Florida.

Not everyone has the luxury to fish from a boat, no worries though because Florida has hundreds of fishing piers that offer excellent fishing. Some of these fishing piers may charge a fee to fish from and others like the Fort Desoto piers, are free of charge.

The Fort Desoto fishing pier extends out a little longer than a football field, and all the fish I mentioned above can be caught there. Another great spot to cast some lines are on beaches, which is also called surf fishing. The best places to do this are on the beaches that have bridge or pier inlets, and lots of rocks, the rocks give fish like snapper and snook spots to hide and stay out of the sun.

If you have access to a dock, specifically one that has a light shining in the water then this will make great for some night fishing. Snook can almost always be found around a dock that has a light on at night time, along with sheepshead and snapper.

Another option for fishing inshore in Florida would be bridge fishing, just make sure that you are allowed to first as some bridges do not allow you to fish from them. One excellent bridge to fish from is the old Sunshine Skyway, which is between Saint Petersburg and Tampa.

As you can see there are plenty of ways and places to fish inshore in Florida. You may not be able to get fish as big as if you were out at sea, but this is definitely a cheaper alternative to either hiring a charter or investing the money into a boat.
