Fixed blade knives were commonly used for hunting, but over time they are getting replaced by foldable hunting knives. The convenience that these hunting knives offer, have made them more desired than the fixed blade knives.

There are two types of folding hunting knives, traditional pocket knives and the lock back hunting knives. Traditional pocket knives are small and compact and hence can be easily carried. Lock back pocket knives, as the name suggests enable the blades to be locked so that there is no unwanted flip of the blade.

Many folding knives lag behind when compared to the strength of the fixed blade knives and hence often cannot be used for skinning large animals.
