Walleye Fishing Tips For The Summer

Walleye Fishing Tips For The Summer

When it comes to catching walleye in the warmer summer weather it is important that you learn a few things.

If you are a walleye fisher person you know how important walleye fishing tips can be in the summertime because you know catching them in summer can at times prove to be quite difficult. You need to take pride in learning. Feel free to use what was working in the springtime. If you are lucky you may just end up catching a lot of fish in the size you are looking for.

The first real thing for walley fishing tips in the summer time is knowing where to find the fish you so desire. As the weather warms up come summer time the walleye will move into deeper water where things are cooler. It only makes sense that because of this you will most likely need to go further off shore to catch the walleye.

For walleye it seems that structures under the water tend to be a favorite place to hang out in the summer time. This is not only because the water will be cooler but these structures are also a good place to find bait fish. For walleye you need to know that no matter what season the walleye will always follow the bait fish.

It is important to try and figure out what types of bait fish are hanging out where you will be fishing for walleye. Once you figure this out you will need to try and copy the food source as close as possible. In the summer time walleye can be very lazy and slow. Because of this you will need to make the bait very easy for the walleye to catch. If you do what is needed to catch slow and sluggish fish you may just ne very happy with the results.

At the end of the day and after you do your homework you will find that you need to use baits, lures and hooks that are going to reach the bottom in deep water. The two best live baits I have found on a consistant basis have been leeches and minnows. If you can get these to hang out or bounce on the bottom you will stand a good chance at catching a great walleye.

Because in the summer time you usually need to go a lot deeper to get the walleye you could use a different line that actually has lead built into it. What this line does is allow us to use any lures we want but it also ensures that the line will get to bottom in a timely manner.

Another great thing in the summer is fishing in and around weed beds. Walleye tend to like these a lot because they tend to stay fairly cool as well. The weeds work great at keeping the sun out and they are also great places for the bait fish to hide. Of course we know where the bait fish go the walleye will follow.

As the days get warmer the key is to keep on fishing. Take your time and do your homework. You do your homework two ways when it comes to fishing. You want to practice everything you do and you want to read as much as you can. This wll go a long way for you when it comes to catching a fish.
