Pike Fishing Tackle- So What Will You Need?

Pike Fishing Tackle- So What Will You Need?

The time has come, you will need pike fishing tackle to get started with your pike fishing adventure. Below I will provide you with a very generic list of the more important things you will need to make sure you have a great day of fishing. They may be generic but I will try and elaborate and describe the equipment as best as possible.

1. The rod is the first piece and probably the most obvious piece when it comes to pike fishing tackle. When fishing for pike for the most part you will need a rod that is stronger then you would use for other fish. Of course if you know pike you will know that pike are very strong and heavier then most other fish. The rod you use has to be able to stand up to the extra strain that will be put on by these forceful fish.

2. The reel is the next piece of pike fishing tackle. A reel is a very important piece because it not only stores line but it also casts and retrieves the line. The reel has to be working well because if its not working chances are your fishing trip will be over. Whats even worse is if it malfunctions while you have a big pike on. If you end up cutting the line then you may harm the fish because it will swim away with the hook in its mouth. This would be bad because it could cause a big fish to starve.

It really is in your best interest to buy a very good reel. Reels used for pike are generally built much stronger so it can support the heavier line that is needed.

3. I think by now you have figured out that pike are heavier and stronger fish then most fresh water fish. So the next thing when it comes to pike fishing tackle is the stronger line that will be needed. The line needs to be able to handle higher weights and stronger fights. Braided line is what you should be using, its much stronger then line that is single stranded. Be sure to pick a store that have people with some knowledge so that they can help you choose the line you will need.

4. Lures will be the next thing we will talk about when it comes to pike fishing tackle because these will be very important when it comes to catching numbers. If you choose poor lures you will likely catch less fish. When it comes to using the proper lures there are many factors like weather, depth of water, fish habits and so much more. Again you should talk to others that can help you by giving you advice on what lures to use at certain times in certain areas.

5. There will be some other things you will need when you head out on your pike fishing trip. A net would be a good thing to have to safely land your pike. If you are fishing off the shore you could get an unhooking map so you could protect the fish when you have it on the shore.

There are many many pieces of pike fishing tackle that you could buy if you have a lot of money to spend. At the end of the day its really all about catching a fish. With good tackle its all about pike fishing techniques.

Just remember that a bad day of fishing is always better then a good day at work.
