The season we've been waiting for (a little too long now)

Let's talk about the start of the fly fishing season today. It's about ready to rollout and everybody knows excited. But before we start, there are a few things that we should really talk about. I know, I know you are all too excited to want to read about this right now but there are a few things that you really do need to know. First, you're going to want to make sure that you are 100% prepped. This means going over your line, making sure it's clean, going over your rod and reel set and making sure they're in good shape, and taking an inventory of all the flies you have. This is going take a while.

After that you're going to want to get some basic fishing report info. It's really hard to get good info early in the season like this, but it's possible if you go online. Check all the usual sources, and make sure you don't forget me place. That's the beauty of things today it's really easy to find information pretty much anywhere. It used to be that a fisherman would have to look all sorts of places and ask all sorts of people before he found some reliable information. But not today, everything is much much much much much easier now which is nice. So essentially what you need to do is get all that information together before you hit the river. Not much use in hitting a blown out river or ones that falling well yet.

What I might do the first thing I start is I'm going to talk to my fishing buddies and see who wants to go out with me. I don't like fishing alone early in the season like this. It's always nice to fish with some other people and get a little bit more of a perspective on different styles and what's working at what time. Later on towards the summer when everybody's on the river I like to go alone with its to credit anyway. But that's a whole different story.

So good luck to all of you out there, I hope you catch a fish as big as your mother-in-law. Just make sure you do your homework, get your gear ready, and have a little luck on the river. I have a feeling as to be a great season this year. And as soon as the snow melts it should be super warm!
