It took Birch Fett, of Cascade, Mont., more than an hour to land this beautiful 32-pound king salmon from Alaska's Contact Creek. Birch used a #10 Glo-bug in tandem with a 7-weight rod.

Looking back on a lifetime of great catches, 80-year-old Charles Frank of New Orleans says nothing compared to the fights he had with the exotic peacock bass of the Amazon Basin. This one weighed 20 pounds.

Bargain Trout
It was a cold, clear May morning that saw Johnny Lytle, of Great Falls, Mont., take this 29-inch pre-spawn rainbow on a silver spoon he'd fished out of a $1 basket at Wal-Mart. The fish came from what Lytle calls the "Glory Hole" at Pishkun Reservoir outside Choteau.
