Maryland Fishing Violations Up In Economic Downturn

2016/7/16 11:03:59

From The Washington Post:

From 2006 to 2008, the number of fishing-related tickets issued in Maryland increased nearly 50 percent, from 1,023 to 1,527 a year. Officials attribute the surge to more vigorous enforcement and the slumping economy. . . .

In Maryland, violations classified as "striped bass-related" or "possibly striped bass-related" are driving the increase . . . . Natural Resources police officers issued 139 such tickets in 2006 and 172 such tickets in 2007. Last year, they issued 350.
