George Bass and the Exploration of Melbourne's Coastline: What Was His Role?

There is no evidence to suggest that George Bass contributed to the development of the Melbourne area. Bass is known for his exploration of the Australian coastline, particularly his voyage with Matthew Flinders in 1798, during which they circumnavigated Van Diemen's Land (now known as Tasmania). However, his explorations were primarily focused on the eastern and southern coasts of Australia.
