Perciformes: Understanding Bass and Trout Classification

Bass and trout are both types of fish that belong to the order Perciformes. Perciformes is one of the largest orders of vertebrates, containing over 10,000 species grouped into about 150 families. It includes many other well-known fish, such as sea bass, grouper, snapper, flounder, wrasse, goby, and cichlid. Perciformes fish are the most diverse vertebrate order and make up approximately half of all known fish species.
