Spring Prep, Been doing that all Winter

In a lot of blogs anglers are talking about getting the boat ready and rods and lines and so on which all have to be done, but if you don?t have that one thing that stands between the end of your line and that big fish where all after, it?s all for nothing.

What I have been doing most of the off season is gathering lures:

And tying flies:

Making sure I?ll have that one fish taking piece of tackle that will put a "great day of fishing" smile on my face. I try and remember to replace the lost ones and get the ones I didn?t have that where hooking fish for my fishing partners (Not this year!).
A log book comes in handy this time of year, refreshing your memory on what you where using that day you hooked the big boy. Replace rusty or broken hooks and a little bit of paint here and there on those chipped ones is good. I always paint clear nail polish on my lures and spinners to help stop that.

I do need to get a new deep cell battery for the troll motor and I did pick up a fish finder for the pontoon boat and came up with a way to use it, which I?ll show you in a video in the near future, hopefully with a nice fish with my lucky lure hanging out of his mouth.
