10 Fishing Trip Fails

All anglers have expectations when going out on a fishing trip, but it doesn't always turn out the way we think it will. Here are ten fishing trip fails anglers can encounter when out on the water.

1. Weather judgments are made. We hope for the best...

... but sometimes we get the worst.

2. Preparing trips based on the weather predictions. We get suited up for some fun in the sun...

... however remember to bring some extra layers for when a fishing day turns sour.

3. Baiting a hook cleanly takes skill...

...just watch you don’t hook yourself by accident!

4. Docking and launching boats can be tedious work...

... but the boat launch is a great way to practice your teamwork skills.

5. A good cast is all in the wrists...

... just remember to keep a firm grip on the rod handle.

6. For a smooth retrieval, be sure to spool your reel properly...

... or else you’ll get tangled up at the worst possible time...

7. No matter what kind of reel you use, treat it with care...

... or else you may lose a fish when your reel falls apart.

8. Jumping fish, such as salmon, are a very cool sight to see...

... unless a flying fish smacks your face.

9. Fishing with friends is awesome! Be careful how much you brag about your big catch...

... because you won’t always catch the biggest.
