Fly Fishing for Fall Rainbow Trout

COLD,WET AND SNOWY, A PERFECT DAY ON THE WATER
Hey Guys, It's cold and snowy, but there is no ice, what do you do? Take the fly rod out and get some FISH!
Its not hard to do, grab your warm clothes, put on your neoprene waders, and enjoy the fall weather!

Setup
3-8 weight fly rod, a 4x-6x tippet on a 5-9ft leader

Time of Day
Most Rainbow trout like to feed in the morning or evening, but its a good idea to fish it all day if you can , if you can only be there for a certain amount of time the evening is probably the best time, the trout are feeding and they are ready for your fly!

Flies
MARABOU! Any color any day! something with some flash like a flash woolly bugger or a beadhead marabou nymph with a peacock herl body! Also if they are recently stocked, try a spun deerhair bug that looks like a piece of trout food (like dog food or pellets)

Presentation
If you see a rainbow trout eating off the bottom with their tail sticking out (eating nymphs) cast your marabou nymph about 2 feet past them and let it sink, gradually twitch your nymph with short pulls of your line and then if you feel a bump or see your line go sideways move your rod to the opposite direction of the trout pulling the line and just side hook set on it. Now with your trout food (purina fly etc...)
If you see the trout around fan cast and work your fly with a small popping motion to convince the trout that the "pellet" has just landed on the water, then they will strike thinking it is a pellet.

Fishing in the fall brings great results to the weekend angler or professional angler!
