Really cool stuff for the holidays

I was checking out WFN's online tackle shop and here are a few products I found really cool.

Baits

Strike King Coffee Tubes: Something about that coffee scent that fish love !  Most of us coffee drinkers would agree that roasted  coffee beans smell great .Guess what Fish do too ! Hey what can say if Kevin Van Dam is on the package then you know bait is 100% proven ! This is one of my favourite and most productive baits I use for both Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass . I have also used the coffee tubes on Trout and White Fish with much success . This bait works great in both deep and shallow.The baits is also super versitile you can cast out while dragging the bottom,hoping the bait,flipping it,swimming it or even vertical jigging ( for ice fishing too). My favourite colours are the watermelon with red/black flake,pumpkin with black/red flake and the two tone minnow pattern with black flake.

Line

Power Pro  Braid Fishing Line:  Power Pro is still my favourite from all the braid lines on the market , it was the first brand I used and  fell in love on my first cast ! First thing I noticed was far I casted and how incredibly sensitive it was .I could also detect soft bites by watching the line twitch. After using the product for years, I  couldn't believe the life span of this line.I can honestly say  the line lasts for year and unlike mono that starts to curl and twist,this line has zero memory.  Since I started fishing with Power Pro  braid it was hard to switch back to that stretchy mono, and I will agree some stretch is  important when fishing crank baits and other applications.Almost all of my reels( 90% of them ) are spooled up with Power Pro Braid  15,25,50 lb. test line, married with a 2 ft  piece a 100% Fluorocarbon leader line for that bit of stretch and confidence.

Electronics

Lowrance Elite -7 HDI series and Lowrance Elite-4 Gold Combo:  : Electronics have come along way from the past, just look at the personal computer. It also seems you get more value for your dollar than ever before , prices seem to drop  with more options added to these units each year. This fall a good friend of mine bought a 17 ft Lund and decided to upgrade the electronics. He looked into the Lowrance product line and purchased the Lowrance Elite-7 HDI and Elite -4 Gold. I got to play around with units and was blown away.The Elite-7 HDI has the scanning option witch took all the guessing on what kind of structure was below the boat. It was pretty neat how defined the images appeared too. The Elite-4  Gold has a small screen however the GPS maps and options to convert into an ice fishing unit and being able to connect both units via a cable is very cool. Years ago I purchased the Lowrance X67 and X87  and they are still running today these units are built well ! Oh I almost forgot to mention the AMAZING Customer Service and Tech support the Lowrance staff provides!

Rods

G-Loomis GLX Salmon & Steelhead Centre Pin Rod : This is a product I don't own, however a friend of mine owns one and it is a really attractive looking rod. I have fought steelhead with it ,this is a super light,yet powerful enough to turn big fish, not to mention  you feel every head shake too. What I really like is how the rod was built with custom Fuji guides and the “fiber blend technology” . This just might be my next large purchase when I 'm in the market for a new float rod.  I'm a proud owner of a 11.6 ft  IGFA-4 wt  G Loomis rod that is almost 20 years old, and I have worked that rod to the bone .I have been extremely  happy with product, other anglers always ask me about it and I have receive tones of  compliments though out the years. When you say steelhead rods, I think G Loomis !  This company has been around for a long time. You get what you pay for!

Zebco Dora the Explorer : On my daughter's 2nd Birthday I gave her this rod as a gift . Built toughwith durable plastic. My kid has dropped that rod so many times, I can't believe it still casts. The guides are kid safe ,the rod tip is not sharp at all and it comes spooled with line. The rod floats in case  there is ever a casting accident and glitter on the rod makes it that more special for kids. Great product and a great gift idea too. My daughter loves her Dora the Explorer fish rod!
