Day One Results for the Red River LBAA Event!

The Lady Bass Angler Association ended Day One yesterday afternoon on Louisiana’s Red River with the weigh in being held at the Red River South Marina on September 13, 2013. The day had everything that makes the sport of bass fishing both fun and exciting, extreme temperatures, lower unit failures, livewell issues, pop up rain showers and small bass that would not meet the limit of 12”. Despite the hardships and disappointments that makes the sport what it is, the ladies were all smiles at the Day One weigh in. The hot water of the Red River had yielded low weights and smaller fish than expected, but in a sport that one ounce can make champions, the anglers were taking what the river was giving up. Not all of the ladies experienced bad luck, some did very well catching a limit in the near nighty degree water of the Red River. Finishing in 1^st place was Shreveport Louisiana’s very own hometown girl, (pictured above) Danielle McRae, (currently residing in Hemphill, Texas) who brought a limit of 5 bass to the scales for a total of 14.76 lbs. Finishing day 1 in 2^nd place was Pam Ridgle of Murchison, TX with 5 fish for 10.62 lbs. Coming in 3^rd was Robbie Hartline with 5 bass weighing 10.56 lbs. Placing in 4^th was Kay Pennington with 5 bass weighing in at 9.07 lbs. and rounding out the top 5 was Monica Altman also with her 5 fish bag weighing in at 8.10 lbs. On the co-angler side, Vicki Henderson arrived to the weigh in with the leading 3 fish co-angler limit weighing a total of 7.35 lbs. followed by, Shannon Wood, Kim Martin, Susie Bowden, and Linda Sands, all with a three fish limit holding the top 5 positions for Day One. The first day of the event has shown the ups and downs of bass fishing, however nothing can seem to break the spirit or the passion of the ladies of the LBAA as they compete for, respect, points and cash, however with cooler overnight lows, Day Two began with lower temperatures which sparked hope in some of the ladies for a good top water bite and a kicker fish to beef up their limits as the day heats up. As the event continues with the Day Two launch, one angler began in a borrowed boat and soon after the launch, AOY point leader Pam Martin-Wells experienced lower unit malfunctions early in the day and will be finishing the day in a borrowed boat as well as she tries to hold on to her point lead toward the Angler of the Year. The fans and friends have shown their support in the Shreveport-Bossier City area with interest in the LBAA. As the spectators arrive this afternoon for the live weigh in at the Red River South Marina at 3:00 PM they will witness history being made in woman’s bass fishing. The results of the weigh in for this event will decide the winners and the names of those who have placed high enough in points to make it to the LBAA Classic, the AOY and the CAOY rankings for 2013. A fun and exciting day is ahead for the ladies. If you are unable to attend the event today, the Southern Sports Group will be on site providing the Livestream of weigh-in @3:30 PM. Yesterday’s technical difficulties interfered with the Livestream, however the event was recorded and will be available on the LBAA web site.
