Ryan Newman Wins 10th Annual Hot Rods & Reels Charity Fishing Tournament

Ryan Newman?s team of Jeff Smith, Kimberly Meesters and Jim Boldman won the tournament with a combined weight of 7.00lbs. bass. Driver Kenny Schrader caught the biggest fish of the day, a 5.12lbs largemouth bass. ?I always love this event said,? said Ryan Newman. ?I don?t do charity golf tournaments (laughs), but I love to fish and Darrell (Gwynn) has an amazing charity fishing tournament that I?m always happy to be a part of. The work Darrell and his foundation do is amazing.? Several of NASCAR?s top drivers, owners and stars participated in this year?s event including Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Jamie McMurray, Joey Coulter, Martin Truex, Max Papis, David Reagan, Joe Nemechek, Austin Dillon, Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Labonte, Kenny Schrader, Richard Childress, Johnny Morris and more. At the event, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, on behalf of its donors and supporters, donated In addition to raising spinal cord injury awareness and purchasing custom power wheelchairs for children and young adults, a portion of the money is donated to the ?Speediatrics? unit at Homestead Hospital. This special unit, which is brightly decked out in a racing theme, helps children and families feel more comfortable amid what can be stressful circumstances.-DGF-
