Spoon Feed with a Fergie

After a couple of days of cold and rainy days my Friend Craig and I headed out for the day on Mattagami Lake to check out the lake and see where the fish were holding. When we arrived at the lake, it was a balmy 5 degrees out with a 25 kmph Northeast wind blowing. Talk about being fresh out. After spending the day scouting the lake and it getting late, Craig asked me what I would like to try. I pulled out my Fergie Spoons and said lets go deep. We found a school of decent looking marks and I dropped a 1/2 oz Fergie Clacker Spoon down, well Craig dropped a jig and leech down to them. After three short pumps of the rod tip, Bam the first Walleye hit the Fergie Spoon. Back down and the same three short strokes and the next one came up to the boat. To make a long story short, we spent 15 minutes on the school and the Fergie Spoon was catching 3 to 4 fish to one on the jig and leech. Now that was a fast limit of decent fish and time to go home as it was getting late.
Most anglers put their jigging spoons away for the summer which is a big mistake. I have been carrying a box of jigging spoons during the open water season for a couple of years now and am glad that I do. Jigging spoons seem to trigger fish when everything else is having a hard time to trigger fish into striking. The lift, drop of the spoon looks like an injured bait fish which fish are accustomed of seeing and feeding on. The angler dictates the action of the spoon in regards to the fishes mood of the day.
This year I have been using the Fergie Spoon as it is one of the hottest baits to hit the market in recent years. With it's Clacker System added to the Spoon it has been producing some big Walleye and other game fish.
