Spring Prep Guide: Using Less

This year I am doing things a little different.  First I had to get some "shorts" and drive on carpet guides repaired on my boat.  Next I will select the most important rods/reels that I use the most, clean, grease and oil them up. I have segregated a lot of my lures and will be labeling them as to the time of year to get them out.  Rotating lures from my main tackle box is imperative, so I will be removing those that brought me no success and put them aside.  If some lures actually produce nothing, then it's EBay time. Since my family used to own a tackle shop, I have lots and lots of lures that I will be selling on-line this year.  My wife already added that I used to catch more fish with fewer rods, reels and lures.  Maybe this time she's right. I do not fish tournaments, so trolling is a good way for me to catch a days limits of bass and other species. My tackle box will reflect this, using knowledge I obtained from fishing all over North America. In fishing for walleyes in Canada, I caught boat loads of bass, both small and largemouth...but I get home and change everything up...not a great idea....so back to the ledger and re-arrange my baits to catch fish...not take up space...making more room in my boat for sugar free sodas, and treats. My circle hook selection is low so another trip to Bass pro Shops is in the works. Turkey season opens Thursday, therefore, I will be fishing in my camo, listening for gobblers and attempting to get a "dailey double" whilst out on the water.
