Harlequin Sweetlips Diet: What Do They Eat?

Harlequin sweetlips fish (Plectorhinchus chaetodonoides) are carnivores and their diet primarily consists of small invertebrates and fish. They utilize their protruding snout to sift through the sand or rubble on the seafloor, searching for prey. Their diet includes a wide range of organisms such as small crustaceans (e.g., crabs, shrimps, amphipods), mollusks (e.g., bivalves, gastropods, cephalopods), echinoderms (e.g., sea stars, sea urchins), and small fishes.
