The Importance Of Taking Golf Lessons

2016/7/20 16:32:26

It can contribute greatly to your golfing progress.

6. One of the best things about taking golf lessons for beginners from a professional is that it will help you to develop confidence, which will make golfing even more enjoyable.

Deciding to play golf is an easy decision to make. However, once you have made the decision to learn the game, it can become an intimidating choice full of other decisions that will make your head spin in circles. For instance, which clubs should you use or buy? Which balls do you buy? What kind of clothing and footwear is appropriate on the golf course? Where is the golf course and which ones are better for beginners? How about etiquette and golf jargon? How do you learn what to do and when to do it? How do you score the game? There are lots and lots of questions that need answering prior to stepping onto the golf course.

Hang Out

A quick way to learn the game is to start hanging out with other golfers. Maybe there is a family member who is a keen golfer. Most kids and women learn from their fathers or grandfathers or husbands and boyfriends. Hanging out on a golf course is a good way to build some friend time with a loved one doing something you enjoy. Or, drop by a driving range and watch the golfers while they practice. Talk to the pro in the clubhouse. Most golfers are pretty friendly and more than willing to help out a rookie golfer.

Take Lessons

If you are serious about learning the game then lessons are in order, even before you buy your clubs. All golf courses have teaching pros who give private lessons or group lessons at very reasonable prices. Choose beginner group golf lessons and make friends who are at your level of expertise. That way you have someone to play with outside of class. Learning what clubs to buy at the beginning is part of the beginner class, so do not sweat that. You can even rent clubs at the course or buy a good pair of used clubs. Golf clubs purchased new can be an expensive proposition especially when you do not know what you need. So put off buying new clubs until you know a little about your game and abilities.

Where to Buy Clubs

Once you have a basic understanding of the game, now is the time to get some clubs. Maybe your dad has some in the basement or garage that he is no longer using. Second hand clubs are good starting out because golfers sometimes will upgrade to the new stuff on the market before they have worn out their old stuff. So the second hand stuff may be only slightly used and will serve a beginner well. Eventually, every serious golfer goes for personally fitted clubs, but that is a very expensive proposition. So do not rush into it just yet. Look for good second hand clubs at yard sales, or Salvation Army stores, or ask at the club house for referrals. It takes a series of six or more lessons to take most beginner golfers from not knowing how to hit the ball to playing on the course. Since club sets do cost much, you simply need to find a more affordable club set that will help you practice your game.
